(After being quoted in the San Jose Mercury News and Palm Beach Post)"I hate the term 'Chick Lit!'" says author Becky Due. "Women's literature or fiction works just fine," says Due, who characterizes novels like The Gentlemen's Club-A Story for All Women, as "novels about strong women." "Would men ever stand for 'Dude Lit?'" she asks.
***
Becky, thank you for standing against the term, "Chick Lit"! I saw it in our public library and asked for them to change the display.
***
Hi Becky,
I think that is so cool! I actually got into an argument with “Robert” last week over his usage of “chick”. He was mentioning a woman that one of his friends is dating and referred to her as “that chick”. I told him it was demeaning and has negative connotations. I told him when I hear the term chick it means to me a term that men use to describe women who don’t mean much or who are not worthy, and can be tossed aside easily. He did admit reluctantly that the term was derogatory. 5 points for me!
Not-a-chick

I was looking through a magazine rack the other day trying to find some writing magazines. I saw the cover of one of them has an author who they are calling the chic lit queen or something like that. I laughed when I thought of your interview... dude lit I think you said. Very funny. What will they think up next? Menstrual lit or something I'm sure.
The world needs you Becky Due... Go get em!

I hope to regain my strength and be in a place to reach out to other women as you are doing...

Hi Becky ~ I have to tell ya that your emails are very helpful, inspiring, encouraging and uplifting..... For some reason, I found myself tearing up toward the end of this email... Right 'bout the time you said to look in the mirror and tell yourself "that you're fun, beautiful, and deserving of great things and dreams coming true" ... It's getting to me again... while I'm trying my best to type this to ya !! Good tears , healing tears... PLEASE keep in touch

Hello Becky
I would like to thank you for your compliment and for your invite to visit your site. I browsed through and I am very interested in reading your book, "The Gentlemen’s Club".
It is so nice to see that my site has actually attracted women of substance. I too have a passion in life that is to create a place that women can join up and support one another without all the negative barriers that this world has created.
Good Luck on your future challenges girl.

I sure can appreciate this story. It happened to me in college. I later took a self-defense class where it was suggested that I should have stood up in the library and let everyone else know that the man that was sitting near me wanted to show EVERYONE what he had to offer. I was so sorry that I didn't know that that was a real response under the circumstances. Anyway ... I spent awhile wondering why I cowered. I’m still not sure. He left the particular library room at one point and all I could think to do was close the book that he left open. I was also told at a later date that he was peeping into rooms. At that point, I realized that I actually had a responsibility to help keep others safe. This was in about 1990 so hopefully if it does happen again I will act with more force.

Becky now this sounds like a story that should be on Oprah's show
***
Dear Becky:
Good for you... your book… a smart women book that could be used all year.
***
I was waiting for a book club meeting (which we had last night). I showed the gals your letter and the books and we decided that we would love to read “The Gentlemen’s Club.”
***
Dear Becky, I just finished reading your post on WJC and felt compelled to write to you. God bless you for your compassion and desire to help with healing the hurting.
***
I was so surprised to come home and find a book waiting for me! And my girls loved Blue the Bird as well! That was a really nice surprise too! I told the book club about it, and they all seem really interested. I'm hoping it will be the next book we read!
Thanks again for sharing your books with me!
***
My two year old son was thrilled about the Blue the Bird on Flying book!
***
I can't wait to read your book The Gentlemen’s Club. Just from reading the back you sound like an amazing woman! I hope to someday meet you in person.
***
Becky, We are a domestic violence shelter and would like to use your book as a tool to help our women. We would love to have about 10 copies of "The Gentlemen's Club".

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing in support of Becky Due as a guest speaker. On March 20, 2008, Ms. Due spoke to some 600 high school students at David Prouty High School. I also had the pleasure of hearing Ms. Due’s presentation.
Ms. Due’s purpose in speaking was aimed at preventing abuse and violence against women. She highlights her own personal experiences in words that were both age appropriate and poignant. She details her own life experiences in a way that teenagers can relate to. Her story can more or less be that of almost any student or his/her parent.
Ms. Due was also good at answering any questions the students asked. Lastly, she offered several telephone numbers and web sites geared to helping people caught up in a domestic violence relationship. I recommend her without reservation.
Respectfully,
Ralph E. Hicks, Ed. D.

Hi Becky.. Thank you, I got the package you sent me yesterday and I am almost done with your book! I have like 30 pages left. I must say I am really enjoying it and I would love it if you would donate it to my charity event. Let me know if u need anything. Thanks again for everything. I really think the women that we are helping will really take something positive from you book. WOMEN POWER! Sending you a ton of thanks!

Hi Becky,
I just wanted to connect with you and thank you for giving some ideas to look at as to why I might have been stuck. It’s been a painful process and I sweat through it got real good and sick and am finally starting to climb up and make some changes, one step at a time, the thing that I felt most was self hatred towards myself for not being able to stop my patterns and then self hatred again when I’d do the same thing over and over and just couldn’t stop. I did a lot of soul searching over the holidays in between spending time with family and friends and I have made some changes and moving forward to make more, man this stuff is tough but I listen to you how happy you are now and what you went through and it gives me the courage to keep moving forward, thank you ever so much for being there and for the women moving forward, which I feel is literally helping me to change my life one day at a time, don’t know where I’d be without all of you.. Thank you.
***
Dear Becky, Just a note to say Thank you for the great shirt & books you sent me. Bless you, and thanks also for being there every week. I am a quiet one but you all have helped me.
***
Hi there: Thanks for all the insights, painful you bet, worth it? It will be. You are an angel for having the woman going forward, it’s a god sent. Thanks so much for all your hard work to help us women around the world become Healthy whole and Human beings instead of Human Doings and Human Beings instead of Objects. ha. Anyway, it’s nice to get real and to be able to hear other women’s stories doesn’t make me feel alone, and doesn’t make me feel quite so ashamed when I hear that other women have or are acting the same way in some areas of their lives. Anyway, have a great holiday, the women moving forward for me is a safe place for me to air out and move forward and for you I am grateful. Sincerely.
***
Becky , Thank you so much for all your help you are a wonderful person!
***
Hi Becky: Thank you ever so much for sharing last night. I am going to journal all that we talkedabout this weekend. Pretty amazing how we learn things about ourselves that we don’t even know when we share. I thank god for being able to have you guys to connect with. I have moved forward in a lot of areas since I have been on line. still have a long way to go but getting there one step of the ladder at a time. Thank you.
***
when you sang that song last night, it really touched my heart. Thank you and I enjoyed all the sharing, I feel a bit vulnerable today, I’m used to being the listener rather than talking but it felt good to get all of it off my chest and to know, I'm not alone on this journey and that others have done or felt things I have.
***
You are an awesome woman!
***
Becky,
That is so great that you are speaking at schools about violence. I think that is a very important issue for our community. Well, I will wait patiently for Touchable Love, I am sure that it will be wonderful just as The Gentleman's Club was.
***
Hello Becky,
I know the last time that we spoke, you mentioned that your new book was coming out soon. Is it out yet? I have been in anticipation to buy it and just was not sure when it was out.

***
Thank you for having such a meaningful website.

I Love your play. I have to say Becky, it has touched me very deeply. I truly believe that women accross the nation will be immensely touched, and what a wonderful play for Mothers and Daughters to go to together to embrace one another and heal from any unsaid feelings and resentments they have had for each other or anyone. What a wonderful, touching and healing play.
***
Thank you for all you do.
***
Hi, I have been a listener of Jordan Rich (WBZ Radio host) for many years. I heard your interview with him on the radio and was very much inspired and impressed with your insightful approach on this subject matter.

The principal of the school read your on line info, he stated he would be thrilled for you to come with your guests. My chief also is thrilled, looking forward to hearing back, thanks.

"You go girl!!"

Hi!! My name is___ I am from ____, and I have been trying to get my fiancé to understand that pornography and stripping is degrading to all women even those who have nothing to do with it and I believe we should help these women and give them options besides turning to this industry. He says it’s just a job they choose to do it and my argument is that most don’t choose it for fun they feel they have no choice. I am a humanist trying to make my point and start changing this with my own daughter and could use all the help I can get. This was a wonderful start THANK YOU so much!!!!!!
***
You have an awesome story to tell, an important one!!
***
I have posted your article on my blog at:
http://www.MentalHealthDropInCenter.com
Thank you for your article.
***
Becky, this is a wonderful thing you're doing! I'm so looking forward to listening in tomorrow. I've read your information over and over. I'm been divorced over a year now and I still find myself "stuck." I'm working on a few areas, but still trying to take two steps forward and not allow my ex-husband to knock me 20 steps backwards with the same mental abuse I dealt with in our (several) years of marriage. We have beautiful children and I'm trying hard to get back to the happy go lucky, community involved, self-driven person I use to be. I struggle DAILY. I can't wait to rebuild myself again for me and more importantly for my children. Thanks again for doing this. I look forward to listening in.
***

Becky,
You did great!!! What you have gone through, how you've turned it around to help others... my goodness... maybe you just need to be told what a great job YOU ARE doing!
We didn't get many calls, that doesn't mean it wasn't an excellent show. You know how difficult the subject matter is, I was not surprised at all at how the calls went.
I hope you can be satisfied with the EXCELLENT job you did last night, and be forgiving to the host who should have gone the extra segment with you.
Thanx again.

Thank You for all your strength and wisdom you give to all us women.

Blessings to you Dear Becky,
You recently mailed your book to my son _____ and of course I got to read it first as his mail normally comes to me. And it is also a job I took on to check all the books out before sending it to him as he does not have much time to read all the books that come his way.
Well, of course I loved your book and the way you wrote it. I am beginning to wonder how many of us did escape child molestation's and as far as I know it must be very few women. I am recommending your book to all my friends and spoke to ____ this morning about it and will now send it on to him as I gave it five stars.
I guess you have heard about Ramtha the Enlightened One. He is my teacher and one of the things that he always tells us is that no matter how badly the men treat us when they are on their death beds they always cry for their mothers. We are truly powerful but most of us do not even know that.
Keep up the good work and congratulations.
Love, ____________

Hi I am a male. I am a big feminist. I think the B word is very offensive, and i think if a male uses that against a female, he should have legal problems. That should be legalized you know, because Misogyny is prevalent and it's crazy. Being a male, anti-misogynist, I too feel the pain women are experiencing and it's a sin and shame how nothing is being done about it. It's crazy. I am a poet in Chicago, working on a book, I already finished all of the poems to the book, I think every woman in America, if not the world should have a copy, I'm just working on getting it published don't know how, plus I'm a self-promoter and just a college student so funds are also low. But I being a male, already don’t use the B-word, and like you are, I’m trying to start A REDvolution against the use of such words and misogyny itself. You're doing a good job! keep advertising. It'll work.
***
I already have it -- loved it!!!
***
Video was powerful and worked very well, by the way.......Dick
***
Outstanding work. You've been courageous and you have allowed your heart to coincide with the Divine Heart. Go deeper still. God bless you.
***
It certainly did come through. Becky does a sensational job.
***
You made an excellent guest. A sad story with a happy ending. You came across as very real and someone who has true inner goodness. You left me with the impression that you didn't deserve the bad in your life but you were able to finally overcome your adversity to find the gold at the end of the rainbow. Congratulations!
***
You did it! Congratulations, Becky! You're a special young lady!! Love, Darlene
***
I just wanted to tell you that I'm more than half way through with your book. I read most of it at my house today then I went out for diner by myself to read your book - I want you to know I had three women come up to me and wanted to know what I was reading. I laughed and cried in public. They saw me. I told them all. You are amazing and I love you. There is so much more to this story because a woman called me... You are an incredible woman! Carrie
***
The story line really suprised me, I admit to preconceived notions, however you did a wonderful job of moving between setings and keeping the reader wondering (and turning the pages). The frank discussions of sexual stereotypes, boundaries and abuse are very eye opening and gut wrentching at the same time. When one hears about it on the news that is one thing, first person examples should and do really give a sense of the emotional damage that is caused.
I applaud your courage and effort, my life has been changed because of you and your book. Thank-you. Dave
